Extended Augustcation

It seems this little soul of mine is tired and ready for some free mornings.  I've decided to take the rest of August as a vacation from this space and I look forward to greeting you again after Labor Day when the days are a little cooler.

So cheers to August!  And we'll meet again come September!

Radio Silence

I need to take a week off my friends, a late summer vacation.  See you next week...

(I can't wait to show you my corn!)

whispers in the night

My daughter changed again last night.  She told me stories of the day in the middle of the night.  Stories of the fun she had with the people she loves.  Stories of tickles.  Secrets about nighttime drinks of water.  Desires for the shades to be fully drawn from early morning sunbeams.  Arms around necks, heads sharing pillows.  Eyes opening.  Eyes closing.

Everytime I thinks she's grown as much as she can possibly grow, off she goes again.

Lobster Rolls

They were eaten.  Maine Sunday lunch at it's best.  With friends of course.

The Corn Is As High As An Elephant's Eye...

our experimental popping corn and delicata squash growing out of the manure pile
a big, beautiful, luxurious dill head;  I've only been able to covet these in years past
oh, sweet carrot it's been so long
 our meager cherry tomato crop
and not so meager is the basil
oh, cornichon!  i see you and look forward to pickling you in a weeks time!

Barefoot on a Boat

Because we're in the middle of summer, and this is how you spend your evenings when you can feel the cool airs of September creeping in.  You know that summer will suddenly be fleeting, but for the moment you can enjoy the carefree evenings of sunsets and good, good friends.  You can laugh and eat chicken salad, chips and watermelon.  You can go to the bar afterwards to watch The Olympics, knowing your child is happy with her grandparents.  There's so much lovely to say about the last days of July.

Oh, but so soon we'll be in our woolens once again....
